Great news for HTC phone users.
HTC will “unlock the bootloader” so that users can modify and change the software their phones came with.
From HTC’sDevelopment website
“we will allow our bootloader to be unlocked for 2011 models going forward. We plan on releasing the updates that will allow you to unlock your bootloader in the coming months”
Naturally they give all the warnings;
“We strongly suggest that you do not unlock the bootloader unless you are confident that you understand the risks involved.”
This is a great example of a phone manufacture thinking progressively and being tuned into their customers desires.
We look forward to the release of the update that will enable unlocking of the bootloader and will post it when it becomes available from HTC.

We know you have been waiting and we’re thrilled today to announce that we’ll start serving Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich to GALAXY Note and GALAXY S II in the first quarter of 2012.
In addition, other ICS-upgradable GALAXY devices include GALAXY S II LTE, GALAXY R, GALAXY Tab 10.1, GALAXY Tab 8.9, GALAXY Tab 7.7 and GALAXY Tab 7.0 Plus.
Does this mean we have to wait until January or March?
